Shopping Cart Community

Any suggestions on how I can make it that when viewing the list of vendors, you can have that it displays on vendors beging with a particulat letter.
Such like is done for products of here: http://www.interspire.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11016

Does anyone know how to have the category menu act more like http://www.fifiluxe.com/ rather then the default way? That multiple levels can be opened/closed
