Summary:
This modification provides you with a way to restrict the number of characters a customer can input in a text or text field configurable field.

It does this in two ways...
Front-end
Uses HTML.maxlength (text) or Javascript (textarea) to limit the number of characters input into the field.
It also changes the cols/rows values to a more accurately reflect the amount of text available (see known issues)
Back-end:
Checks the limits and the data input and errors if the character length exceeds the limit (ie: when Javascript has been disabled)


Changelog:

• Now 6.0.11 - 6.1.1 compatible
• MaxChar field now hidden unless a text or textarea configurable field are selected
• Supported installation and self-install options now available

Known Issues:

• TEXTAREA field ignores row & column HTML settings due to CSS.. (Purely cosmetic irritation)

I've just added a screen cast of the modification in action so it's a bit clearer as to what and how the mod' works.

Given a couple of requests I've updated this mod/hack to be ISC 6.0.11 - 6.1.1 compatible...

snailsolutions needs an update!
