Lost Store Design Mode

I have modified alot of the code using store design mode, then one day I tried to access it via the control panel and it doesnt open as store design mode (with the little box saying toggle etc and no right click menu).
Can anyone tell me anyway to get this feature back.
Also I have deleted the tiny_mcexxxx.gz from the cache and still nothing.4

EDIT: It appears in IE when I am on the product pages & also other pages. But not on the home page!

Sadly I have absolutely no idea how the design mode works so I couldn't be sure but chances are you have removed some critical markup in the page code that allows the page to load the design mode.

I'd recommend taking a look at a vanilla version of the template code and do a comparison using a Diff tool like ExamDiff to see what you might have removed that broke things.

Found out what it was in the end. I as adding a jQuery accordion menu and the "<script type='text/javascript' src='http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jq ... -ui.min.js'>" was causing causing all of this.
