Following on from this:

...Google Merchant has provided another rather large goalpost move...
New product feeds registered after 11/22 will temporarily be subject to a 500 item limit. Existing feeds in your account will not be affected.
Ref:

So basically folks, this is going to affect a lot of people... No idea what's going on but I'm betting they are now trying to make it considerably easier to vet new feeds...
To deal with this change I'll be putting in place a setting that limits the output if required.. Pending another release..

Thinking out loud...
The problem with variations is that the ISC code does not provide any means of generating the variations with a pre-selected combination ID because of the "clever" javascript system that doesn't even generate the follow on variations select field, until the preceding one has been selected. This makes it difficult to do anything that doesn't involve yet more JS and that could break if Googles Spider doesn't use JS
(which is highly likely!)
So, it would seem that the smartest way to resolve the problem would be to create some kind of custom product page that outputs the active variation combination as hidden input fields with "Add to Cart" and "Other Options..." buttons. The former would simply add the combination to the cart while the latter would redirect back to the product page where the customer would then have to select everything again (which could be an annoyance but unavoidable

).
Hmmm... Need to think about how to generate those static pages or if indeed there's a slightly more cunning way... Hmmm some more...

Most likely you need to get a whole host of new information into your products and categories..
The screencast here:
http://www.snailsolutions.co.uk/_casts/ ... quick.html
... provides a lot more information about how you setup the back-end and also shows you how to select Google Product types/categories.
My guess regarding your sudden drop in products listed is down to one or more of the following:
- Missing UPC information
... OR...
Missing Brand and MPN information (if you don't have a UPC/GTIN/EAN/etc... code)
- Missing pictures
Worth noting that the module does its best to stop you from shooting your feed in the foot by not including products that don't meet requirements and would likely result in de-listing, suspension, etc...
Hope that lot helps figure it out

Hi, the category setting is insisting i select from a complete drill down
What I need for my category is:
product category food beverages/food items/ candy sweets and gum/ sweets and chocolate
What I have to have and is not that relevant is
product category food beverages/food items/ candy sweets and gum/ sweets and chocolate / jelly beans
I have used the BC category tool and it allows for selecting a category without having to go right through to the end.
As we sell sweets and chocolate I don't want to list all our products under jelly beans, mini candy bars or gummy sweets.
Excellent update by the way.
Kind Regards
Wesley

You need to have completed the two sets of file edits provided in the instructions to stop it from requiring the full drill down.
I did pre-modify two files and include them in the latest update but they were renamed to avoid anyone accidentally breaking their original files and coming after me as a result
Excellent update by the way.
Thanks... If you can find a little time to write a review on the SnailSolutions store I'd appreciate it... Could use a few more referrals

I am having problems opening the 2 files with text edit.
Can you tell me which programme is best to open them with as they seem to be listed as a 'tool' file.
Kind Regards

Might be easiest if you could PM me some ftp details for your site and I'll just amend them for you this time...
Normally a bog standard text editor (on your computer) would do the job... You can't edit them via the design view on the store (in case that is what you were thinking).
Notepad++ is a good text editor if you need one though...
